Hanoi, the capital
of Vietnam, has been one of the most graceful and attractive places in the
region. In 2000, Hanoi won the UNESCO honorable name of “The city
for Peace”. In 2002, the Americal journal “Travel and Leisure”
ranked Hanoi the 2nd best tourist city in the region.
Water puppetry is a traditional performing art of
Vietnam dating back to a very old age.
Due to the natural condition and their agriculture activities it was
the Vietnamese peasants who were the creators of this performing
art. Water puppet shows usually took place in the past when the the farm work had been
generally completed, in Spring time, or in festivals.
